LATVIA TO CONTINUE HOSTING THE FIA WORLD RALLYCROSS CHAMPIONSHIP IN 2019

RIGA, LATVIA
25/10/2018

The 2019 calendar of the FIA World Rallycross Championship presented by Monster Energy will consist of eleven rounds, with Neste World RX of Latvia being the ninth round. CSDD Biķernieki Circuit in Riga will welcome the competitors on September 14-15.

“I would like to thank the Latvian motorsports society that comes out to watch rallycross in the CSDD Biķernieki Circuit each autumn, as well as the Latvian government and our event partners for their support, and the local drivers who have managed to find the funds needed to compete in the Latvian round. Directly or indirectly, all these circumstances have come together to make it possible for Latvia to host a World Rallycross Championship event in 2019! It is important to note that there are only four disciplines where a world championship is given out – rallycross (WorldRX), rally (WRC), formula (F1), and endurance racing (WEC) – so let us not take this for granted and use this opportunity to represent Latvia to the best of our abilities!” says RA Events and Neste World RX of Latvia director Raimonds Strokšs.

There are multiple changes in the FIA World Rallycross Championship calendar for next year. First round has moved to Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates, where, on April 5-6, the Formula 1 venue Yas Marina Circuit will host a rallycross event for the first time. Belgian round has also undergone major changes, being relocated from Mettet to another Formula 1 venue – Circuit of Spa-Francochamps. The other nine rounds of 2018 have remained, with the dates of some events changing compared to last year. The 2019 calendar no longer includes an event in Montalegre, Portugal and Estering, Germany. To sum it up, the world champion will be determined in eleven rounds, with the race taking place on December 1 in Cape Town, South Africa.

FIA World Rallycross Championship round Neste World RX of Latvia is possible thanks to title sponsor Neste, as well as the Latvian Ministry of Science and Education, and our partner Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD).
